SAFARI instrument is a high sensitivity grating-based spectrometer operating in the 34-230 μm wavelength range. The scientific drivers lead to the implementation of two modes of operation. The Low- Resolution (LR) or nominal mode (R~300) and the High-Resolution (HR), that implies to include a Martin-Puplett Fourier Transform Spectrometer (MP-FTS) to achieve the required spectral resolution (R~2000-11000). The optical system is all-reflective and consists of three main modules. The input optics module (IOM) is an unobscured reflective Offner relay. In the IOM a Beam Steering Mirror (BSM) is included for spatial modulation and to allow efficient sky mapping. The Band and Mode Distributing Optics (BMDO) module splits the radiation band into the four different spectral bands and includes the MP-FTS. The field image existing at the output of the BMDO constitutes the entrance to the Grating Module Optics (GM). These modules provide spectral dispersion by means of linear and reflective diffraction gratings and the final image onto the detectors. Performances of the GMs are high demanding with a detector divided into 2 sub-bands with a different pixel size for each sub-band.Ítem Restringido Calibration strategy for the SPICA/SAFARI instrument(SPIE Digital Library, 2020-12-13) Shipman, R. [0000-0001-9464-3100]; info:eu-repo/semantics/restrictedAccessSPICA is a mid to far infra-red space mission to explore the processes that form galaxies, stars and planets. SPICA/SAFARI is the far infrared spectrometer that provides near-background limited observations between 34 and 230 micrometers. The core of SAFARI consists of 4 grating modules, dispersing light onto 5 arrays of TES detectors per module. The grating modules provide low resolution (250) instantaneous spectra over the entire wavelength range. The high resolution (1500 to 12000) mode is accomplished by placing a Fourier Transform Spectrometer (FTS) in front of the gratings. Each grating module detector sees an interferogram from which the high resolution spectrum can be constructed. SAFARI data will be a convolution of complex spectral, temporal and spatial information. Along with spectral calibration accuracy of < 1 %, a relative flux calibration of 1% and an absolute flux calibration accuracy of 10% are required. Ya que las propiedades de un material est´an estrechamente relacionadas con las de los elementos que lo componen, la idea es tratar de desarrollar materiales con un comportamiento determinado. Sin embargo, la predicción del comportamiento de un material a partir de sus constituyentes es un problema que aún no ha sido completamente resuelto y, por tanto, el interés en caracterizarlos sigue presente. En los últimos años se ha incrementado la utilización de materiales compuestos en diferentes estructuras aeronáuticas de tal manera que ciertas partes de una aeronave ya no son metálicas sino que están completamente fabricadas a partir de composites. Asimismo, con el avance de estos y el interés por fabricar aeronaves más ligeras y eficientes, se están diseñando incluso fuselajes completos de nueva generación con material compuesto; tal es el caso de algunos vehículos aéreos no tripulados (UAV) actuales. De ahí que su caracterización se haya convertido en una necesidad. En este sentido, esta comunicación tiene como objetivo la caracterización de una serie de materiales compuestos de fibra de vidrio utilizados en el fuselaje de un UAV real operado por el INTA, denominado SCRAB-II.Ítem Acceso Abierto Caracterización de materiales fabricados mediante tecnología FDM para aplicaciones de Radiofrecuencia(Ministerio de Defensa: Secretaria General Técnica, 2018-10-22) Martín Iglesias, Santiago; Muñoz Rebate, I.; León Calero, Marina; Fernández Romero, S.; Poyatos Martínez, D.; Plaza Gallardo, B.; Escot Bocanegra, D.; Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI)La fabricación aditiva presenta numerosas ventajas, frente a técnicas tradicionales, para el desarrollo de diseños complejos y adaptados a la finalidad de la aplicación. La posibilidad de desarrollar estructuras multi-material e integrar componentes electrónicos supone un avance para el desarrollo de aplicaciones en el campo del electromagnetismo. Para beneficiarse de estas ventajas, es necesario investigar en profundidad el comportamiento de los diferentes materiales disponibles. En esta comunicación, se presenta el estudio experimental mediante el cual se ha analizado una gran variedad de materiales empleados en FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling). El objetivo de este estudio es conocer el comportamiento electromagnético de estos materiales. Las probetas fabricadas han sido analizadas mediante la técnica “Open-Ended Coaxial Probe (OECP)” proporcionando información sobre su permitividad eléctrica, a partir de la cual es posible obtener el coeficiente de transmisión. Los materiales con mejor comportamiento dieléctrico fueron sometidos a ensayos de transmisión en espacio libre en una cámara anecoica polivalente para medidas electromagnéticas, BIANCHA (BIstatic ANechoic CHamber), validando de este modo los resultados obtenidos con la sonda coaxial. Los ensayos realizados han proporcionado información relevante para el desarrollo de futuras aplicaciones en radiofrecuencia (RF).Ítem Restringido On the use of Particle Swarm Optimization for single snapshot DOA and frequency estimation(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, 2012-05-31) Errasti Alcalá, B.; Fernández Recio, R.; Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial (INTA)Direction Of Arrival (DOA) estimation is a well known problem that has been studied through a wide range of different approaches and methods. Most of these methods make use of several snapshots in the array to provide an accurate result but their performance is commonly degraded when only a single snapshot is available. In a scenario where not only the DOAs are unknown but also the frequencies of the signals need to be estimated with a single snapshot is where heuristics show their potential. This communication presents the use of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to estimate the DOA and the frequency of the incoming signals with a single snapshot. This enhanced methodology, applicable to both uniform and non-uniform arrays, can handle incoming signals with different complex amplitudes. A.; Martínez, G.; Peña, A.; González, David; Moreno, José; De Lucas Veguillas, Javier; Hernández, Pedro; Pérez Grande, I.; Chamorro, Adrián; Ramos, Miguel; Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial (INTA)The Thermal InfraRed Sensor (TIRS), an infrared (IR) radiometer developed at Centro de Astrobiología, is one the sensors that compose the Mars Environmental Dynamics Analyzer (MEDA) onboard NASA's Mars 2020 mission. It will measure the net thermal infrared radiation, reflected solar radiation at the surface, atmosphere temperature and surface skin brightness temperature using five different channels. The present paper provides a brief description on TIRS design and channels requirements. Then, a detailed presentation of sensor model equations and a sensitivity analysis to model uncertainties are included. Finally, accuracy and resolution calculus for each channel versus operational temperature is presented. The calculus is performed based on sensitivity equations and the estimated values for different uncertainties sources.Ítem Restringido The 4K focal plane unit for SPICA's SAFARI far infrared instrument(SPIE Digital Library, 2020-12-13) Torres Redondo, J.; Eggens, M.; García López, Rafael; Pérez Grande, I.; Pérez Álvarez, J.; Chimeno, M.; Arrazola Pérez, D.; Fernández, María Manuela; Belenguer Dávila, T.; González Fernández, L.; Evers, J.; Dieleman, P.; Jellema, W.; Roelfsema, Peter; Martín Pintado, J.; Najarro, F.SPICA provided the next step in mid- and far-infrared astronomical research and was a candidate of ESA's fifth medium class Cosmic Vision mission. SAFARI is one of the spectroscopic instruments on board SPICA. The Focal Plane Unit (FPU) design and analysis represent a challenge both from the mechanical and thermal point of view, as the instrument is working at cryogenic temperatures between 4.8K and 0.05K. Being a large instrument, with a current best estimate of 148,7kg of mass, its design will have to be optimized to fit within the mission´s mass and volume budget. The FPU will also have to be designed for its modularity and accessibility due to the large number of subsystems that SAFARI had to accommodate, highlighting Fourier Transform Spectrometer Mechanism (FTSM) and the three grating-based point source spectrometer modules (GM) which operates at 1.7K in the FPU, the latter representing 60% of the total mass of the instrument
